Scholarship Opportunities
Students of the Polytechnic Colleges are entitled to receive the following Scholarships through the institution as per the eligibility criteria. The scholarship amounts are disbursed to the students to their Bank Account through ECS by the departments concerned.
SC/ST Scholarship
Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (SC/ST): Implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for students pursuing education from class XI to Post Graduation.
- Target Group: Students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities.
- Income Limit: The annual income of parents or guardians should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
- Benefits: Covers non-refundable fees (tuition, examination) and provides maintenance allowance, often ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹13,500 per year.
- Application Process: Applications are typically submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or state-specific portals like TN Tribal Welfare.
Minority Scholarship
- Eligible Communities: Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi.
- Eligibility Criteria: Students must belong to the minority community and have secured at least 50% marks in the previous final exam.
- Income Ceiling: Parental income must not exceed ₹1.00 lakh per annum for Pre-Matric and ₹2.00 lakh to ₹2.50 lakh per annum for Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means scholarships.
- Application Process: All applications must be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Pudhumai Penn Scheme Girls Only
Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Scholarship
- Educational Background: Girl students who studied in state government or Government-aided schools from Class 6 to Class 12.
- Residency: Must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
- Higher Education: Must be enrolled in a recognized undergraduate degree, diploma, or ITI course (regular mode).
Tamil Puthalvan Scholarship Boys Only
- Students must have studied from Class 6 to Class 12 in Government or Government-aided schools.
- Target Group: Boys pursuing recognized undergraduate, Diploma, ITI, or Polytechnic courses.
- Benefit: ₹1,000 per month, deposited directly into the student's bank account, to support higher education expenses.
Additional Scholarships
In addition to the above, the following scholarships are also given to the students of Government Polytechnic Colleges through Directorate of Technical Education.
- Scholarship to the children of Defence personnel.
- Ex-servicemen Scholarship
- Deceased Government Servants Scholarship
The scholarships other than the above will be recommended to the department concerned directly by the respective Principals of the Government Polytechnic Colleges based on the eligibility criteria of the students.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Students generally need to submit applications through their institution's principal, including community certificates, income certificates, and bank account details.
- Tamil Nadu specific applications are often handled via the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) and local welfare departments.
